What to Expect
I strive to keep all of my sessions fun and laid-back. I love capturing the raw, unpredicted, candid emotion of families, couples and kids. Those are my favorite images to hang on my walls, so I love creating those images for you to cherish, too! Of course, we still get the posed images too!
Prior to the session we will chat about locations (with the exception of Mini Sessions - those are pre-determined) to choose a location that suits you. I also like to get information regarding ages and personalities of kiddos participating in the session-things that would help them open up and relax during the session - sports, toys, pets, activities, etc. With little ones I encourage parents to bring a favorite toy, snack or treat.
When do I need to pay?
A retainer of 50% of the session fee is due the day your schedule your session this will secure your spot on my calendar. The the remainder is due the the week prior to your session.
How can I pay?
Since the retainer is due the day you schedule your session, an invoice will be emailed to you and is due, via credit card, upon receipt. The remaining balance is payable via check or credit card the week prior to your session.
What times do you schedule sessions?
I schedule most outdoor sessions 1-2 hours prior to sunset. It provides for the most beautiful lighting. They call it “golden hour” for a reason! I typically schedule sessions on Friday and Saturday. Weekday and Sunday sessions are available upon request. Newborn and Boudoir sessions and scheduled between 10am-12pm.
Can I bring a friend (or boyfriend/girlfriend) to the session?
It's not recommended. I'm not going to tell you that you can't, but I wouldn't recommend it. I definitely wouldn't bring more than one. It sometimes inhibits a photographer's ability to create the poses and achieve desired looks when there is an audience because it's distracting to the subject and sometimes causes insecurities to be reflected in the expressions.
Can I change outfits?
Of course! Outfit changes are always a fun way to change up the look of the session. For a full session, I recommend no more than three outfit changes, due to time restraints.
I'm not sure what to wear. Can you help?
Of course! I even have a What to Wear page setup for that reason! Feel free to send me ideas and thoughts about what you've picked out. I'll let you know what I think or give you suggestions. My most important suggestions is to coordinate, not match. There is a huge difference. Wear complimentary colors (mustard and burgundy, cream and navy, or gray and teal) Complimentary, coordinated outfits photograph much better than everyone wearing a white shirt. While we are talking about white, solid white and solid black tend to photograph the worst. Instead of black and white, go for cream and navy. I also have a What To Wear album on Pinterest that may be helpful in choosing outfits for your family.
What If I need to reschedule?
In the event the client should need to reschedule, notification must be given to the photographer a minimum of 48 hours prior to the session. One reschedule will be allowed in this instance, and the deposit will transfer to the new session date. Sessions will be rescheduled based on photographer availability. If less than 48 hours notice is given, the client forfeits the retainer and a new retainer will be required to reschedule. Exceptions to this may be made at the photographer’s discretion.
Will I get a sneak peek?
Sure! Upon request, I will post an edited image on Facebook within 3-5 days following your session, with the exception of boudoir sessions.
How long will it take to receive the images?
The edited images will be ready for viewing approximately 2-3 weeks following the session. Once they are ready, we will schedule the Session Reveal. If your session includes digital images, or if you have purchased digital images, those will be delivered via a private online gallery. All purchased images provided in the gallery will be in high-resolution and will be available for download. A flash drive of all edited images is available for an additional $55, shipped. A custom, wooden flash drive with images is available for $95, shipped.
Will you edit the images?
Of course! Each image is hand edited and artistically enhanced. Basic retouching is included in the session fee; any additional retouching after images are delivered will require an additional fee. Raw images are never released.
What is the cost of the prints, canvases, and digital collections?
Prints, canvases and digital collections are very reasonably priced and are outstanding quality. My computer is calibrated to the professional lab I use so that images print exactly as they were designed. Purchasing digital images is a separate cost from the session fee. You may view the full product guide by clicking HERE.
What rights do I have to the digital images?
You will receive the print rights to the digital images you purchase. You will have the right to reprint the images whenever you want. However, you may not sell your images or publish the images without written consent of TM Photography.
Can I order prints from you?
Definitely! And I suggest it! Even your friends and family who access your gallery can order prints for themselves. Prints, canvases and digital collections are reasonably priced and are outstanding quality. My computer is calibrated to the professional lab I use so that images print exactly as they were designed. Purchasing digital images is a separate cost from the session fee.
Can I get a flash drive of the images?
You bet! A flash drive of all edited images is available for an additional $55, shipped. A custom, wooden flash drive with images is available for $95, shipped.
Can I print the images myself?
You certainly can, but image quality and color will vary. Images ordered through the photographer (or the gallery) are true-to-color and the quality is unparalleled. Having pictures printed at a ‘box, chain, or drug store" is strongly discouraged, as it will result in inaccurate color and inadequate quality. If you choose to order photos outside of the gallery, I recommend using MPIX.com Their quality is the most similar to the quality you receive when ordering through the photographer.
Do you offer CDs?
I do not. CDs are antiquated and nearly obsolete, not to mention delicate and prone to being misplaced. I provide a digital download of the images. Not only is it easier to share with others, but you also have access to your images as soon as they’re ready. No waiting on a CD. Plus, most newer computers don’t come with a CD drive.
Is there a limit on the number of downloads?
Nope! There is no limit on the number of downloads, so feel free to share with family and friends.
